Custom Pedals

Contact me for custom pedal builds. I'm happy to work with you to come up with a unique pedal.

The Bouncer

This is a combo reverb/delay pedal that uses a microcontroller for the tap tempo and LFO operation. The delay circuit is built around a PT2399 with some heavy filtering to get the tape echo quality on the repeats. The filtering works well with high feedback settings - it's easy to get it right on the edge of self oscillation and it never gets too bright. There is an Electric Canary Bontempo microcontroller circuit for the tap tempo and LFO. The Bontempo is great - it's got 6 rhythmic subdivisions and the LFO offers 6 different waveforms, including a random option. The reverb is after the delay and has an on/off footswitch so that either can be used independently. The reverb uses a medium Belton brick. The reverb has a tone control on the wet signal, and a feedback control to get some boinginess out of the verb.

Bygods Bass Overdrive with Mix Blend

This one was for Natalie from THE BYGODS. She was looking for a bass overdrive with tone shaping options and she wanted an edgy overdrive - but didn't want to lose any of the bottom end. I went through a half dozen circuits and tried a couple of things, but nothing was really cutting it. After 4 months of not being satisfied with the results, I found a layout for the Nobels ODR-B. It's got a lot of the good characteristics of the Nonels guitar overdrive and the 3 band EQ was perfect. A blend control was added to preserve the low end in the source signal.

Fuzz War Combo

Kind of like a King of Tone, but instead of 2 Prince of Tones, it's 2 Fuzz Wars. Right side is cascaded into the left side. Each side has a 3 way diode select. There are low forwards voltage diodes on the right side - some NOS Germanium 1n119's and some BAT46's. On the left side, I used a set of LED's and then assymetric 1n4148's. I was doubtful this one would sound good, but I was wrong. The Fuzz War is interesting because it will do the gnarly fuzz, but at lower settings, it's definitely an overdrive. This circuit also sounds really good with no diode clipping at all - big and wooly.

Sad Baxter Tri-Vibe

Custom build for Deezy from Sad Baxter - she's responsible for the artwork on this one because I don't do too well with paint pens. She's into modulation pedals and this is one of the coolest mod pedals I've made. It's the Runoffgroove Tri-Vibe, a unique approach to this circuit. I love these and I've made a few for some other folks.

Rangemaster + Ross Comp Combo

Here's one I made for myself, labels by Deezy Youngdahl. It's a modded Germanium Rangemaster boost with mid and full range boost in addition to the standard treble boost. The compressor is based on the Ross with a 3 way release speed selection added.

A mix control has been added to the compressor for parallel compression.

Monster Muff

I've played a lot of Big Muffs and there's things about each one of them that sounds good. I picked component values for this Muff based upon the characteristics of my favorite versions. Additional mods are as follows:

HPF & LPF - more toneshaping on the input.
4 Way Tonestack Select - Gives the ability to swap out tonestack values with a 4 way switch.
3 Way Clip Select - LED, Silicon and None.
Diode lift on the second clipping stage (Tonebender Mod)
Tonestack bypass for more mids.
